I was born a fighter. Abandoned by my parents, I spent my life forging my own path—one guided by my fists and paved with pain.
Untouchable in the ring, I destroyed everyone who faced me, but that’s where my victories ended. Outside the ropes, I repeatedly failed the few people who loved me. Including my best friend, Liv James—the one person I’d die to protect.
Even though I didn’t deserve her, Liv never stopped believing in me. Never gave up. Never let go. After all, she understood what I’d lost, because she’d lost it too.
Liv was everything to me, but she was never truly mine.
That was going to change.
I lost my first love, but I refused to lose my soulmate.
Now, I’m on the ropes during the toughest battles of my life.
Fighting to be the man she deserves.
Fighting the solitude of our pasts.
Fighting for her.

If you have read this series you know Liv and Quarry meet as kids. You get hints that they formed a friendship but it isn’t until you read Fighting Solitude that you discover how deep it went. Aly did an excellent job with the first 20% of the book. It covered a lot of ground in what happened to Mia, and the aftermath for Quarry and Liv without overdoing it.

For me the seeds were planted early on in the series for a Liv and Quarry pairing so I loved seeing how they got started. Quarry pushes Liv away when they are kids and it severs the relationship for a time. Life goes on but after a time Liv discovers Quarry is going through some changes. Realizing how much she has missed him Liv goes to Q and rekindles their friendship. Q is ecstatic to have his best friend back and his girlfriend Mia in his life. The three soon form a strong friendship and become inseparable. The rest of the story is the event with Mia that shapes the rest of Liv and Quarry’s lives. I was a bit worried I wouldn’t like Mia but I absolutely adored her. I loved how much she loved Q and Liv, but even they didn’t realize the depths to which she loved and understood them.

I loved the pacing in bringing Liv and Quarry together. I liked the time jumps so you didn’t feel like they get together too early. I adored their friendship, and every moment on the page they had was gold, even the sad ones. The path Liv took with her life was fantastic. Q was her passion, and she took that love she had for him and made it work for her personally and professionally. I think the love Quarry and Liv had for each other, whether friends or lovers, centered them. It was a beautiful thing.

Quarry finally wakes up and realizes Liv has been his EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. He realizes he has lost time with her and he knows that he has a fight on his hands. Liv is dealing with her own awakening, but hers comes with a ton of guilt and fear. But Liv doesn’t stand a chance because as Q says “I’m a Page man….We know love,” and when they have it they don’t let go.

One final note; I adored getting more Leo and Sarah. I loved getting a peak into how they were as parents to Liv. Leo was a hoot with his speech towards the end and Sarah was just as sassy of a mom as I expected her to be. For two people not sure that they would get it right I think they did a fabulous job with Liv.

I could go on and on with my favorite moments or lines in the book but I will stop. This was a fantastic end to the series from the first page to the epilogue I loved it all.

Quarry Page....we first met him in Fighting Silence; and I think everyone who loves Quarry has been anxious to get his story. At the end of Fighting Shadows, we see Quarry at a desperate low- and I wasn't sure how Aly was going to bring him out of that, but the way she did it was perfection.

The book starts where Fighting Shadows left off; and then we go back several years to when Quarry first meets his best friend, Liv James. We got glimpses of Liv in Fighting Shadows, but the back story of Quarry and Liv is phenomenal. We learn how they became friends; and how that relationship eventually built into something more. Liv didn't always live a sheltered life; she had hardships growing up before she came to live with her father, Leo. Quarry had similar hardships and I believe it's what cemented their friendship so solidly.

It takes a while for Liv & Q to finally come together, but it was definitely worth the wait. Quarry knows exactly what he wants, and searching back through his memories and his life with Liv, he sees it so much more clearly now. Liv is hesitant, afraid that she's just a replacement for Mia, not realizing that Quarry has always been hers. I love that when these two commit to each other, that it's solid; there's no second guessing and no hesitation.

I loved getting glimpses of Till & Eliza and Flint & Ash, along with their families. Till is still over-protective and Eliza indulges him with it. Flint is still snarky and Ash is still strong and gives it right back to Flint.

There were definitely moments that had me gasping, but the resolution to those scenes was spot on. I can't say enough how much I really enjoyed and loved this book; the series definitely ended on a high note for me.

I think this was the perfect ending to the series.

Quarry was everything and more.
I fell in love with 6 y.o. Quarry in book one, when he asked Eliza out on a date.
How could you not love that!?
Fast forward a few years and we get potty mouth Quarry, that's what I'm fucking talking about!! ha-ha!
But Quarry as a grown man? "Page boys know love". Yes they do!!
They get their minds set on something and never give up until they get it. Not only do they get it, they perfect it! I'm not going to go in to what happened in this book really, as you have either read it already or you read the above reviews and get the gist.

I will tell you two things i loved above all else in this book was was,
Firstly, Ali's back hugs.
It was so sweet  and unique to their relationship.
Secondly,  the different POV's at the end.
It was almost as they each got a final goodbye to their fans.
Just a flash in time through the eyes of the brothers.
I'm getting all Misty eyed just thinking about it.

I feel a little like this is the end of an era, almost like when Friends ended.
What a great series, really. Aly did a remarkable job with these boys.
I'm sad to see them go, but so glad they came.
Thank you Aly <3
